Two large islands, with distinctly different characters:
The North Island is home to Auckland the biggest city in New Zealand up in the north and Wellington the capital city in the south. Wellington calls itself “The coolest little capital in the world” and its mix of arts, music, cultural and sporting activities. Auckland has some wonderful waterside properties and is an hour from the Coromandel mountain range for hiking. Or choose the Bay of Islands or the Bay of Plenty for watersports and coastal walks. You can visit thermal pools with bubbling mud in Rotorua and of course the amazing maori culture is a delight to explore throughout this wonderful country.
The South Island is more rural and filled with mountains, glaciers and amazing fiords, rugged coastline and rainforest. From Nelson, to Christchurch, Milford Sound to Queenstown and Timaru to Dunedin there is something for everyone.
