Given that the flight to Australia is so long we would like to swap for a minimum of one month - ideally for longer (up to three months) depending on the timing. At the moment we are actively seeking an exchange on the Sunshine Coast in November/December 2019 so if anyone fancies Christmas in the UK please do get in touch.
We are also open to potential swaps in the UK's spring or autumn/winter 2020. Although the Sunshine Coast is top of our current wish list. However, we would also be interested in exploring Western Australia around Perth and/or to returning to Sydney or Melbourne.
Our home is an attractive semi-detached period property with lots of original features in a quiet road just steps away from the seafront. It's just a short walk to the shops and cafes of Herne Bay - a perfect location from which to explore the area.
It sleeps six in three attractive double bedrooms. The master bedroom has a super king sized bed and TV. There is a family bathroom upstairs with separate bath and shower plus a downstairs cloakroom.
There are two comfortable living rooms: one with a 40 inch TV with Netflix and the other with CD player and patio doors onto the garden. The large kitchen/diner is fully equipped with washer, dishwasher etc. On a nice day you can wander outside and sit in the garden which has a patio table and chairs.
There is central heating and wi-fi.
Herne Bay is a traditional English seaside town with bandstand, clock tower, pier and seaside promenade great for walking and cycling. You can also go fishing or sailing.
The town has a swimming pool and cinema as well as supermarkets, shops, restaurants and cafes. There are a range of special events on in the town, including a summer carnival, open-air cinema, fireworks and music festivals. Historic Kings Hall, which is a few minutes walk away, hosts concerts and fairs and has a seafront cafe.
Herne Bay is only a few miles from historic Canterbury with its magnificent cathedral, theatres, museums and great shopping. Whitstable and Margate are both a few minutes drive along the coast. There are frequent direct trains to London: 80 minutes to St Pancras/Kings Cross or 90 minutes to London Victoria. It is also served by local buses to Whitstable and Canterbury. In addition you can take the Eurostar train to Paris or Brussels from nearby Ashford or the ferry from Dover.
There are numerous golf courses nearby including at Canterbury, Whitstable (Seasalter), Chestfield, Broome Park and Deal. The famous links course of Royal St Georges - venue for the 2020 Open Championship - is in nearby Sandwich.
