From my home it's a 20-30 minute walk through cute neighborhoods and shopping districts to downtown Vancouver. Or, it's a 2 minute walk to a bus, which can take you to downtown Vancouver in 5 minutes. After exploring that, other buses can take you in 10 minutes to Portland Oregon, just across the Columbia river. Once in Portland, many buses, trams and a lightrail train system will get you all over the metro area without a car. Of course Lyft and Uber are always an option as well. Both Vancouver and Portland (and their buses) are super bike friendly as well.

I'm a retired French teacher, occasional Substitute teacher, always looking for home swap opportunities.  I love snorkeling, scenic walks/hikes (either along country roads or in woods), museums of all types and sizes, and historical surroundings to explore.  Ideally, we could swap cars too, but this isn't a deal-breaker, as long as your home is a few minutes walk from public transportation options.
