The Historic Dockyard and Mary Rose Museum are first class visitor centres and contain many visitor attractions.
In old Portsmouth by the “Hot Walls” you can see one of two cast bronze chain links which celebrate the UK/Australia connection, the other is in Sydney. Nelson left this spot to join HMS Victory before the battle of Trafalgar. Also from here the first of many Australians left the UK ( against their will!,).
The Isle of Wight is a 10 minute hovercraft trip away where you can visit Osborne House, Queen Victoria`s family home. The island also boasts sandy beaches and the historic Carrisbrooke Castle.
