Short-term Exchange (2-5 days), Open to offers, Mid-term Exchange (2-4 weeks)

We are Richard and Kate and are both actively retired. We have travelled extensively and would be happy to exchange for one month or for shorter trips in Europe. We are open to offers of exchange and had a successful three-month exchange 4 years ago between New Zealand and England. Currently we are looking for a one month exchange in the South Island of New Zealand for Feb or March 2023. Kate is also a Kiwi and has family in Nelson in the South Island.

Leaving behind our home in North Yorkshire, we are now living in central Bordeaux. We have a two-bedroom apartment on the first floor of a heritage building, in the sought-after Chartrons area of Bordeaux. We offer a large and comfortable designer living area/dining area with double glazed windows opening towards an open square. Our fully fitted kitchen, sits behind the main living area. We have two double bedrooms with large comfortable beds and fitted wardrobe space. Our bathroom has a shower (great pressure), two basins and a new washing machine. Leading from the second bedroom and also from the kitchen, are doors opening onto a large private courtyard

Bordeaux is ideal for a short city break and we would be happy to exchange in 2024 for short city breaks elsewhere in Europe, including Sweden, Norway, Spain, Italy, Corsica or Sicily. Probably best to google things to do here, but the opportunities are enormous... walking, river trips, restaurants, cycling around town or whizzing around on those electric scooters.

Our apartment is situated 8 minutes walk from the Grand Theatre. We are a 5 minute walk from the River Garonne and restaurants by the water. Around the corner is the Place des Chartrons with a variety of mouth-watering restaurants and affordable cafes. We are a 6 minutes walk from Auchan supermarket but 2 minutes from Carrefour. The Rue Saint Catherine, the longest pedestrian shopping street in Europe is a 10 minute walk. However, in the square in front of our apartment, are bus and tram stops to take you anywhere in Bordeaux. By tram, the airport is 45 minutes and the Gare St. Jean train station is 15 minutes by tram. Bordeaux is a World Heritage City and we have an amazing tram service here that runs effortlessly around the city and is very cheap. Bordeaux is amazing and we love it here.

Richard and I love travelling, having visited India, Peru, Vietnam, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Greece, Turkey, America, Hong Kong, South Africa and lots of Europe.  Richard is English and I am New Zealander/English, having lived in New Zealand for 25 years. I have worked in tourism, teaching, journalism and writing.  I have written, produced and directed two comedy plays (in NZ and the UK) and have written a novel called BEING DAISY.   I love exploring geneology and recently discovered that my 26th Great Grandparents are Henry II of England and Eleanor of Aquitaine. Richard had his own business in I.T. for over 20 years.  We met 12 years ago and recently married.  We love theatre, reading, walking, meeting friends, cooking, exploring France and travelling.  We are both retired and in our early 70's. We are open to all offers of exchange in most countries - short or longer breaks.
