Our home is situated in Waikanae, a quiet coastal town in lower North Island. It sleeps 4. The open plan lounge/dining opens onto large patio with BBQ ,dining table and comfortable seating to relax in. The garden is surrounded by high fencing and shrubbery which affords great privacy.
Waikanae is a small west coastal town on lower North Island, one hour by car or nearby train to our capital city, Wellington. Our village consists a small boutique cinema and cafes plus pub and shops. The nearby town of Paraparaumu has a shopping mall and small airport. Both towns have a golf course and each has their own croquet and bowls clubs. A 20 min boat trip takes you to Kapiti Island, the bird conservation and wildlife reserve which does guided day trips and overnight stays. A two hour drive from here will find you in the wine growing region of Wairarapa, with it's quaint towns and great scenery. A four times daily ferry runs from Wellington to Picton . The 3.5 hr journey takes you through the beautiful scenery of The Sounds.
