Rockhampton lies on the Tropic of Capricorn and is a small city of approx 60,000 people It's original wealth was based on the gold rush, but it is now the beef capital of Australia.
Around the city can be found a wide variety of fine restaurants and cafes. Also in town are two wonderful botanical gardens, and a free zoo

We live in a quiet, friendly cul-de-sac 15 kms from the centre of Rockhampton and 25 minutes drive from the beaches of the unspoilt Capricorn region, with access to islands and the great Barrier Reef. Sapphire and theGem fields are two and a half hours to our west and there are a variety of National Parks including Carnarvon and Cania Gorges with wild life, streams, rain forest just two to three hours drive away.
From May to September our temperatures range from about 12c at night to about 25c during the day. There is very little rain at that time of year. Swimming in the ocean is safe. Our local river, the Fitzroy, is renowned for Barramundi fishing.Rockhampton has the best historical village on the East coast of Qld
