Lake Macquarie / Newcastle is 160 kms (100 miles) north of Sydney. 90 minute drive or 2 hours by train. Our local area offers so much in all aspects. The lake is one of the most popular holiday destinations in NSW and close by we have the Hunter vineyards with many wine tasting sites and villages. Port Stephens with whale and dolphin watching is also handy and the famous surfing beaches of Lake Macquarie and Newcastle are a short drive away. We have lived here for 40 years with continued improvements and can not find a better place to live.

Lake Macquarie is adjacent to and south of Newcastle NSW. Our local area boasts the Lake Macquarie City art gallery and fine dining and cafe/ restaurant Awaba House all with 4 minutes walk.
This small suburb of the city is well away from traffic with our street as a no through road. We are close to convenience shopping, sailing club and Lake Macquarie rowing club.

The map marker is a general indicator of the local area only.

My wife and I have been retired for several years. I have been in secondary education and University lecturing for 50 years and my wife a retired company director. We have 2 children, 8 grandchildren and a great granddaughter. We both have similar interests in gardening, golf and travel.  Most important for us is family. We have regular contact with our children and their families and we enjoy entertaining guests on our front deck. My wife Julie is an avid reader and we often play golf together at our club where we have been members for many years. We have a personal golf cart that is available and stored at the club. We also enjoy bird watching and cultural activities. We have 3 vehicles and a caravan which we enjoy tripping with when we can manage the time to do so. Our home is on a quarter acre block in a pretty suburb on the northern extremity of Lake Macquarie. The front and rear of the home is gardener maintained when we are away and we enjoy our own gardening in the meantime which we have developed quite significantly over the 40 years that we have lived here. We have 3 double bedrooms, one of which is used as a study and gym area. The house was renovated last year to maximise the views and open plan the kitchen / dining area.  The downstairs lounge / living area includes surround theatre with pay TV included with free to air and Netflix. There are 2 bathrooms and apart from these, all rooms are air conditioned.  NBN broadband internet is available. Both gardens will be enjoyed and privacy is also important to us. We are non smokers and respectfully insist on non smoking exchangers. We enjoy dining out at our local restaurant on occasions as it is just a 5 minute walk from home as is the district art gallery. We have twin maltese/ shihtzu dogs that we walk every day but they should not be a concern for home swapping as family gladly care for them when we are away. A car swap is available if it is reciprocal.  Other available items for exchangees are fishing tackle, choice of 2 powered boats, bicycles, golf clubs and use of our motorised golf cart. There are many local attractions which include historical Awaba House and its restaurant, the City Art Gallery,  cycleway,  boating and sailing, fishing and beautiful walks all adjacently available.  Shopping malls and theatre are less than 5 minutes away by car and the magnificent beaches of Newcastle and bordering Lake Macquarie are a short 15 minutes trip. The popular tourist attractions of the Hunter Valley including the vineyards are 40 minutes drive and just north of Newcastle is popular whale and dolphin watching of Port Stephens. Any other information concerning our area can be seen on our personal web page which can be viewed via Google only : thegunns.curtinsmith.com (Apologies re lack of photos.  I am working on including these images and hopefully download shortly)
