Victoria is a city of 300,000, the oldest settlement north of San Francisco on North America's west coast, and the capital city of British Columbia.

Victoria is situated on the southern tip of Vancouver Island (450+ km long, 100 km wide), 35 km across the straight from the Olympic mountains in Washington State, USA, and known for the beauty and variety of its gardens and ocean-side drives.

The Island offers a wide variety of outdoor activities - hiking, kayaking, salt and fresh water fishing, golf, mountain biking, camping, sailing, etc., outstanding scenery, and a temperate seacoast climate similar to mid France or southern England, with wet winters and dry summers. Vancouver/the mainland are a 2.5 hour bus/ferry ride away.

The map marker is a general indicator of the local area only.
