Edinburgh Edinburgh
Yes

Edinburgh requires no introduction. It is Scotland's capital city, it has a wealth of theatres and galleries and holds various festivals through the year. It is a compact city which is easy to get around on foot, though it also has an excellent bus service. Edinburgh is a good base for exploring Scotland more widely.

Our house is in the Trinity area, in the north of the city, it is quiet and residential with a mix of families and retired people. There is unrestricted free parking on the street outside the house and no passing traffic.
There is an excellent bus service into Edinburgh city centre (10-15 mins), or if you feel energetic, you can walk there in about 30 minutes. We are right in the centre of the North Edinburgh cycle path network, so great for walking, running, or cycling. It is about a 15 minutes walk to the Botanic Gardens. The location makes it easy to get out of the city to explore further afield, to the highlands or elsewhere in Scotland.
There are a few small shops and some good cafes and restaurants within a 5 minute walk. There are large supermarkets within walking distance, or a short bus/car journey away.

The map marker is a general indicator of the local area only.
Boating/Sailing, Galleries/Museums, Golf, Historical Sites, Public Parks/Gardens, Public Transport, Restaurants, Shopping, Sightseeing, Spectator Sports, Tennis, Theatres, Walking

There are many golf courses in Edinburgh, East Lothian and Fife, including at St Andrews, the home of golf.

We are Alison and Steve, both early retired from the IT industry and are using our freedom to travel as much as possible. We have been home exchanging for about 25 years, with exchanges in the UK, Europe, Canada, USA, Bahamas and Australia. As well as home exchange, we house and pet sit, both close to home and as far afield as New Zealand. We are active people, both are keen hill walkers and Steve is a sailor. When we travel we love to stay in local communities and Steve will always find us local sports teams to support, invariably rugby! Although we love the outdoors we are also regulars at the theatre, museums and concerts, so it's great to find these when we are travelling. We will always provide proof of identity to exchange partners will ask them to do the same, we can also provide police disclosure checks and references if required.
