The elevated position of the house means there are extensive views. By day you can watch wind surfers, kayakers and boats. In the evening you can watch the sun set. Most rooms have views as does the top/main outdoor deck.

The house is quiet and private but situated very close to beaches, recreation areas, shops and an excellent train service into Wellington city. Wellington is also an easy run down the motorway should you choose to take a car. Wellington calls itself “The coolest little capital in the world” and its mix of arts, music, cultural and sporting activities is fantastic. Nearby Porirua City has a modern shopping mall and the wonderful Pataka Arts and Culture Centre.
Our two level house is comfortable and modernised. Upstairs is a kitchen with a small living room off it which is our favourite space, dining room, lounge and main bedroom (with ensuite). Downstairs there are two bedrooms, bathroom, laundry and a roomy study/reading room which has a private courtyard off it.

Wellington city has a great little city centre, and some really interesting suburban centres. It is the home of New Zealand's national museum, Te Papa which also houses a substantial collection of New Zealand art. There are a number of other museums and art galleries within the city centre. The city is built around a harbour and affords some wonderful opportunities to access markets and stalls while partaking in walks around the harbour's edge. There are good contemporary live theatres and a number of excellent movie theatres for film buffs.

Camborne is a hill-top and sea-side suburb of Porirua city. Much of it is within 10 minutes walk of the Porirua Harbour and most houses on the higher parts have views of the harbour, hills and the open sea. For shops and amenities - cafes, supermarket, medical centre, dentist, bars, takeaway foods - we go to Mana or Plimmerton, which are small centres 3 - 5 minutes by car or a 10 - 15 minute walk away (for more information see also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camborne,_New_Zealand). Camborne is a friendly and welcoming place to live.

The nearby golf courses are Pauatahanui (9 holes) Titahi Bay and Judgeford (18 holes). Green fees are quite low. Each course would be about a ten minute drive away.

Bill and I are both retired and enjoying the additional time that gives us to find other beautiful spots in New Zealand and overseas. There's just two of us - the children left home quite a while ago and are now children no longer! We have spent time overseas in houses belonging to people who have become friends as a result of having exchanged with them. We love our home and will treat yours as we treat ours - carefully and with respect. We love to go to a region and stay - trying to know it reasonably well. We never seem to have long enough to do that, but we always enjoy the time we have there. We both enjoy the historical and cultural elements of the places we visit but are equally at home going on day walks that take us out into parks and wilderness areas.
