Our home is located on a quiet cul de sac, overlooking a private canyon in La Jolla, CA. It is a single family home with 3 bedrooms, a large dining area, large living room (with musical instruments if you are so inclined), a well appointed kitchen (gas stove, dishwasher, microwave, espresso maker, etc.), and 2 baths. As the climate is mild all year round, we also have comfortable outdoor living spaces: 2 decks with tables, chairs, hammock and sofa. If you are looking for outdoor activities, we are minutes away from some of the most beautiful beaches in Southern California, as well as hiking, biking, kayaking, and other water sports. Additionally, we are close to shopping, fine dining, the famous San Diego Zoo, and museums. We do have an indoor cat (Penelope). Her care is minimal and she would be included as part of the swap!

The village of La Jolla (minutes from our house) is a great place to walk: you can stroll along the ocean or hop into town with unique shops and bookstores. On Sunday mornings there is a farmer's market with food, gifts, and live entertainment. There are tons of restaurants in La Jolla - great seafood, Thai, Mexican, Italian, and fantastic local coffee spots. Venturing out a bit farther (15 minutes to downtown San Diego) you can visit Balboa Park, which is home to 15 museums, performing arts venues, as well as the San Diego Zoo. There are lots of different neighborhoods to explore in San Diego, including Little Italy, Old Town, Seaport Village, and the Gas Lamp district.

La Jolla is a small coastal community, which is part of the city of San Diego. Noted for its amazing coastline and beautiful beaches, the area is also known for its cultural activities, especially music and theater. Restaurants and shops abound! The San Diego Zoo is a must see. It is located in Balboa Park, which is home to 15 museums, gardens, and performing arts venues. There is something for everyone: from outdoor, sporting activities (you can even hang-glide off the cliffs above the beach!) to enjoying the Mingei International Museum (a great folk art, craft, and design museum). We are also about a 2 hour drive (depending on traffic) from Los Angeles, should you want to explore.

There are nearly 90 golf courses in the San Diego area. Golf Digest has named San Diego on the the Top 50 golf destination in the world. One of the best, and not far from our home, is Torrey Pines Golf Course. It is situated on cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean with spectacular views.

We are a married couple in our 60s: Janet is a psychologist and Jules is an oceanographer.  We both still work full time.  We have done several house swaps in the past and love being able to feel like a "local" when traveling.  We especially enjoy cultural activities, museums, and of course, eating!
